Residency Community Application
Before you submit your application, you are required to read the about, overview and the FAQ pages in their entirety. You might also want to read the history page. If you still have questions, please submit them here.
The Heart of It: The Residency Community is open to all THOI alumni.
Dates: August 12-17, 2025
Tuition: $1,500* (all lodging, optional instruction and craft talks, and meals/food/snacks included)
*If you are also applying for The Residency Community and The Alumni Cohort and are accepted to both, your total tuition will be discounted by $500. IF YOU ARE APPLYING TO BOTH, Please submit the Alumni Cohort Application instead of this one.
Location: Oz Farm in Point Arena, California
Application Fee: Sliding scale, $0-$20
You are encouraged to answer each question in a word document and paste them here — your answers will not save if the page refreshes, browser crashes, etc. In addition, you won’t get a copy of your answers emailed to you.
You will receive a confirmation email after you’ve submitted your application fee, unless you have indicated you are unable to pay.
This application closes on February 28, 2025 at 11:59pm, PT. Notifications will be sent by April 1, 2025.
Be sure to answer each question thoroughly and clearly.
IF YOU ARE AN ARTIST THAT WORKS IN MEDIUMS OTHER THAN WRITING, You may submit a portfolio in the writing sample portion. Your portfolio can include 5-10 pages of images and text.
A NOTE ON THE APPLICATION FEE: The application fee is sliding scale, $0-$20. This helps pay our staff, pay for the website and software used to accept applications, and keep our application process sustainable. The actual rate is $10, and you are welcome to pay any amount above or below. If you cannot pay the application fee, please still apply. If you can afford to cover someone else’s cost, consider paying $20 to cover those that cannot afford it.
